SELFIE - Career Planning for Dynamic Economics

Overview

SELFIE is an ERASMUS+ project in the form of a 'Strategic Partnership' with a focus on vocational training and other fields (Strategic Partnership addressing more than one field). It is implemented as an internationally oriented project in the EU education program. The participating organizations in SELFIE come from Ireland, Cyprus, Lithuania, Portugal and Germany.

The logic of the SELFIE project is based on the conviction that we need to see career education as a subject and a topic, rather than career guidance as a service. It is a subject and topic with curricular resources such as teaching materials at different levels, with the required learning outcomes and an assessment framework to measure the achievement of the objectives.

In terms of their career planning, students should be taught

(A) how to research the market and identify possible career opportunities and potentials;

(B) how to evaluate options using appropriate decision-making processes and criteria;

(C) how to assess their own strengths and weaknesses;

(D) how to present themselves most advantageously to educational institutions or employers.

There is a need for a growing emphasis on critical inquiry and intellectual flexibility. Given the social media preference of today's youth, there is a need to incorporate these new technologies.

The project language is English.
