Pilot project Schlosskreuzung

Overview

The project aims to optimize traffic flow in order to reduce emissions and waiting times for all road users in the test area Schlosskreuzung and Residenzstraße in Schloss Neuhaus. To this end, the traffic routes in the test area and all influencing factors, such as the road network itself, existing traffic signals and their control programs and sensors, are mapped using traffic simulation software. On the basis of this model and the information generated from it, adaptive and optimal control algorithms are to be developed that will sustainably stabilize the traffic flow in the test area. The project sees itself as a pilot project, as the solutions developed can be transferred to comparable situations elsewhere. This means that other areas of Paderborn and other municipalities will also benefit from the results achieved.
