Development of an evaluation report on the topic of multilingualism in the municipal day care centers of the city of Cologne

The Department for Children, Youth and Family of the City of Cologne, in cooperation with the University of Paderborn, has initiated an evaluation to assess the implementation of multilingualism in municipal day-care centres. The aim of this evaluation is to determine the current status of multilingual everyday life in these day-care centres and to evaluate the methods and concepts used to promote multilingual practice. The evaluation will also assess the professional attitudes and qualifications of early childhood educators towards multilingualism, identify potential areas for further development of a multilingual early childhood environment and provide impulses for the development of training formats. In addition, successful practical examples will be prepared for transfer to educational professionals.
