Research
Research Interests
For almost 20 years, we have been developing new methods and tools to develop, deliver and analyze digital services. Our conceptualization of intelligent services (Smart Services), the DIN SPEC 33453 “Development of digital service systems” and our research work on digital service ecosystems have been formative.
Business process management (BPM) also has a strong influence on our research work. We investigate dynamic effects that transform business processes in everyday operations. A specific research focus is the question of how structural process innovations can be developed from workarounds.
Under the umbrella of the SICP, we develop new solution perspectives, functions and usage scenarios for ERP systems such as SAP S4/HANA, digital data rooms and platforms with strong industry partners. One particular area of expertise is our use case Networked Cultural Platforms as part of the Data Space Culture project - an IT flagship project of the German government.
