Das seit Juni 2019 bestehende Verbindungsbüro des Campus OWL in New York wird am Donnerstag, 27. Februar, offiziell eröffnet. Neben den Feierlichkeiten am Abend wird es eine Expertendiskussion mit Teilnehmer*innen der Campus OWL Hochschulen sowie mit einigen nordamerikanischen Partnern im German House geben.
Nach der Begrüßung durch Dr. Katja Simons, Leiterin des Verbindungsbüros, werden Prof. Dr. Ingeborg Schramm-Wölk, Präsidentin der Fachhochschule Bielefeld, und Prof. Dr. Torsten Meier, Vizepräsident für Internationale Beziehungen der Universität Paderborn, den internationalen Gästen die Hintergründe und Ziele des Verbunds Campus OWL näherbringen.
Die anschließende Expertendiskussion trägt den Titel „Future of Work – New Technologies & Impact on People and Processes. Paths Toward German-American Collaborative Research & Exchange“ und widmet sich schwerpunktmäßig dem Thema „Arbeit 4.0“. Von der Universität Paderborn reisen Prof. Dr. Tobias Jenert, Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften, und Dr. Lena Weber, Fakultät für Kulturwissenschaften, nach New York, um dort als Inputgeber bzw. Moderatorin aufzutreten. Neben Wissenschaftler*innen von Hochschulen aus der Region OWL werden außerdem Wissenschaftler*innen u. a. der University of California, der University of Missouri und der New York University an der Expertenrunde teilnehmen. Darüber hinaus werden Vertreter*innen der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft North America (DFG), der National Science Foundation (NSF) und des German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH New York) über Fördermöglichkeiten für internationale Kooperationen referieren.
Bei den Feierlichkeiten am Abend werden u. a. Jun.-Prof. Dr. Anja-Kristin Abendroth, Universität Bielefeld, und Felix Zeltner, Journalist und Co-Gründer von „Work Awesome“ zum Thema „Deep Dive into the Digital Future of Work“ sprechen. Für die musikalische Begleitung der Veranstaltung sorgt ein Streichquartett mit Maren Rothfritz, Alumnua der Hochschule für Musik Detmold.
Campus OWL, der Verbund der fünf staatlichen Hochschulen in Ostwestfalen-Lippe, hat das Verbindungsbüro in New York eingerichtet, um die Internationalität und die Stärken der Region – auch als Wissenschafts- und Studienstandort – an exponierter Stelle weiter auszubauen. Das Verbindungsbüro unterstützt und bewirbt Studien- und Forschungsmöglichkeiten und fördert die Zusammenarbeit mit nordamerikanischen Partnerinstitutionen.

Campus OWL Liaison Office in New York: Opening Ceremony with Expert Discussion
The Campus OWL Liaison Office in New York City, established in June 2019, will be officially opened on Thursday, 27 February 2020. In addition to the official opening ceremony in the evening, there will be an expert discussion on “the future of work” with participants from Campus OWL universities and some North American partners.
After welcome remarks by Dr. Katja Simons, Head of the Liaison Office, Prof. Dr. Ingeborg Schramm-Wölk, President of Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Torsten Meier, Vice-President for International Relations at Paderborn University, will introduce the international guests to the background and objectives of the Campus OWL network.
From Paderborn University, Prof. Dr. Tobias Jenert, Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, and Dr. Lena Weber, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, will participate in the subsequent expert discussion, entitled "Future of Work - New Technologies & Impact on People and Processes. Paths Toward German-American Collaborative Research & Exchange". In addition to various scholars from Campus OWL universities, scholars from North American universities, e.g. from the University of California, the University of Missouri and New York University, will take part in the expert discussion. Furthermore, representatives of the German Research Foundation North America (DFG), the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH New York) will present funding opportunities for international cooperation.
During the opening celebration, Jun. Professor Dr. Anja-Kristin Abendroth, Bielefeld University, and Felix Zeltner, journalist and co-founder of "Work Awesome", will talk about “the digital future of work”. A string quartet with Maren Rothfritz, alumna of the Detmold University of Music, will provide the musical accompaniment to the event.
Campus OWL, a network of five public higher education institutions in East Westphalia-Lippe (OWL), has established the liaison office in New York in order to further develop the internationality and strengths of the region and to promote OWL as a research and study location. The liaison office supports and promotes study and research opportunities and encourages cooperation with North American partner institutions.
