The "Primary School Pedagogy and Early Education" department at Paderborn University, headed by Prof Dr Petra Büker, is launching a new transfer concept to promote exchange between students and teachers. A new digital platform makes it possible to share research findings and teaching materials from students directly with schools and daycare centres. The aim is to establish a "culture of sharing" in which everyone involved benefits from each other. The platform also offers a digital pinboard on which schools can post current issues that are then dealt with in student theses.

Presence formats and sustainability

In addition, two round tables are organised annually at Paderborn University. At these meetings, students and teaching staff can discuss current topics in primary school pedagogy and early education. The events offer a good opportunity to make personal contacts and promote direct dialogue. The founding event of the round table took place in May in the presence of representatives from primary and special schools, daycare centres and centres for practical teacher training. Nine primary schools from the districts of Paderborn, Gütersloh and Soest have already signed cooperation agreements to ensure long-term and sustainable collaboration.

The "Primary School Pedagogy and Early Education" working group has already been cooperating closely with schools and daycare centres in the Paderborn region for many years. The new initiative expands the existing university learning workshop "KiBi-Z" ("Zentrum für KinderBildungsForschung") and promotes practical dialogue. Students can put their creative ideas directly into practice, while teachers receive valuable new ideas for their lessons.

Valuable findings are made available for practical use

The new platform and on-site dialogue offer numerous advantages. On the one hand, they enable direct dialogue between students, teachers and educators, which promotes continuous professional development and mutual support. Secondly, practice-relevant research findings from Bachelor's and Master's theses are made accessible and can therefore be applied directly in practice. "This ensures that valuable findings do not disappear into the archive, but are actively utilised," says Büker.

Further collaborations possible, contact point for interested parties

"We are delighted about the great interest in cooperation that we have received from both students and colleagues from schools and childcare centres," says Dr Katrin Glawe, coordinator of KiBi-Z. The "Primary School Pedagogy and Early Education" working group is planning to expand the network further and is looking forward to welcoming more people interested in cooperation. Future projects and regular meetings are intended to further strengthen the network and provide new impetus for the educational landscape in the Paderborn region. Interested parties can send an e-mail to katrin.glawe@uni-paderborn.de.
