Swedish A2.1

Scope/semester hours per week

A total of 30 classroom teaching hours (2 SWS)

Prerequisites

Participation in Swedish A1 or proof of comparable prior knowledge

Learning objectives

The course is orientated towards level A1/A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • Listening

With the help of everyday, slowly spoken short dialogues, students practise understanding basic information, e.g. weather forecasts, television news, topics of conversation:

  • weather forecasts, television news, topics of conversation
  • Telephone messages relating to the student's daily life
  • Reading

Students will be able to read and understand simple texts and dialogues, e.g.

  • Texts about daily life, the stay of an exchange student in Sweden and about fashion
  • Bus and train timetables
  • flat adverts
  • Oral interaction

Oral interaction in everyday situations is practised so that students can, for example

  • talk about the weather, leisure time, accommodation, places to study in Sweden etc.
  • be able to make telephone calls and ask for a person, e.g. a fellow student or seminar leader, leave a message
  • be able to obtain information about travelling conditions, bus and train departure times and shopping facilities
  • Oral production

Students will be able to

  • wish me a happy birthday
  • describe my subjects of study
  • describe Sweden and their country of origin in simple words

  • writing

The students should be able to

  • write a simple e-mail or SMS
  • write simple messages, e.g. to

    a flatmate or

    fellow students,

    create shopping lists,

    note down phone calls, etc.

Proof of performance through

regular attendance (proof is provided by attendance lists)
  • Written exam of approx. 85 min
  • Oral examination lasting approx. 10 min.
  • Additional services if necessary

ECTS points

  • Regular attendance, passing the written exam and the oral exam: 3 ECTS credits
  • In some degree programmes, it is possible to acquire an additional ECTS point through additional work
