At least four levels are offered: Chinese I and III in the winter semester, Chinese II and IV in the summer semester. The level is in the A1/A2 field of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. If there is sufficient demand, further levels will be institutionalised.
Chinese characters
Learning and mastering the Chinese language and Chinese characters is not very difficult. You just need to know that Chinese characters are not a phonetic script. They are an ideographic script developed from pictograms and consist of a certain number of components that are combined according to certain rules. It is precisely these components that should be learnt first. Furthermore, words consist of a limited number of characters. In other words, the "character set" determines the "vocabulary set".
