The most important funding institution and central self-governing organisation for science in Germany, the German Research Foundation (DFG), published its Funding Atlas 2024 this week.
In a new joint project, the members of the "besslab" movement, play and sports laboratory at Paderborn University, together with interior designer and carpenter Alexander Ostermann (Heimweh-Paderborn), teacher Frederike Schöningh from the Rudolf Steiner School Schloss Hamborn and Steffen Strasser from the Playparc company, have developed special seating furniture that combines movement and learning.
Prof Dr Sven Lindberg, Head of "Clinical Developmental Psychology" at Paderborn University, has emerged as runner-up in the "Professor of the Year" competition in the Humanities, Social and Cultural Sciences category.
The NeMo.bil project, which was initiated by the New Mobility Initiative Paderborn (NeMo), has been awarded the German Mobility Prize (DMP) in the "New Mobility Solutions" category. A high-calibre jury from industry and politics decided on the award, which was presented by Federal Minister of Transport Volker Wissing.
The Jenny Aloni Centre for Early Career Researchers offers many opportunities for doctoral students and postdocs, such as the peer coaching "Starting your PhD". The new group will start on 14 January 2025. Registrations are still open.
The academy provides the network, which has facilitated interdisciplinary and collegial exchange over many years, with an institutional framework to permanently promote and publicise excellent teaching formats and innovative approaches in university teaching.
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) has extended funding for the "MINTS" project (MLL-based Integrated THz Frequency Synthesizer) for a further three years with a funding sum of around 415,000 euros.

In the latest edition of the renowned "Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" (GRAS), also known as the "Shanghai Subject Ranking", Paderborn University has once again achieved very good rankings.
