"Studying before the Abitur" at Paderborn University: Digital information event

Location: Digital

Get a taste of university life before leaving school and take part in regular teaching: This is made possible by the "Studying before leaving school" programme at Paderborn University. A digital information event will take place on Wednesday, 5 June at 5 pm, to which interested students, parents and teachers are cordially invited. Registration is not required. Further information and the link to the event can be found on the website of the "Studying before the Abi" programme.

"The special thing about 'Studying before A-levels' is that I can experience real lectures while I'm still at school. This gives me a real foretaste of what to expect during my studies," says pupil Alice Harchenko, who is already spending her second semester on the programme. At the information event, the university's Central Student Advisory Service will explain which requirements and general conditions must be met in order to participate. Interested students will have the opportunity to gain further insights in a direct dialogue with representatives of the subject area.

About the programme

With the help of "Studying before the Abitur", pupils can immerse themselves in scientific subjects at an early stage and try out how a degree programme works. The programme is open to pupils from year 9 onwards who would like to study a scientific subject beyond the school curriculum. During the lecture period, they attend one or more courses from their chosen degree programme every week. Almost all courses of study at the university are available to the pupils in the programme. The prerequisite is the consent of the school, as the school material must be made up independently. A supporting programme helps participants find their way around the campus and network with other students. The next round starts on 30 September. Registrations are possible from now until 21 September.
