Knowing how to do it in the end.
Everyone knows about first aid courses and many have attended them to save lives. But what does it look like at the end of life, how are we prepared to help when life comes to an end and there is so much to do? What can we do, prepare, organize and what does that actually mean? How do we accompany a person at the end of life and where can we go for help? The last aid course offers answers to these questions, among others.
A course that provides basic knowledge and practical skills in palliative care and end-of-life care, especially for people who have no prior knowledge. Many people are afraid to deal with this topic and talk about it with relatives, friends and neighbors. Experience shows that those affected often don't have enough time to discuss everything in peace, get comprehensive advice and organize themselves when the situation arises. This course is a preparatory course to approach the topic in a 1 x 1 of end-of-life care.
The seminar is divided into four modules over four hours, which are made up as follows:
(1) Dying as a part of life,
(2) Making provisions and decisions,
(3) alleviating physical, psychological, social and existential distress and
(4) saying goodbye to life.
The speaker is Reinhild Wode. She is a registered nurse, palliative care nurse and was coordinator of the St. Johannisstift outpatient hospice service from 2013 to 2022.
