Have you obtained your higher education entrance qualification (HZB) abroad and do not have German citizenship? In this case, please submit your application via the International Office.

The regular application and enrolment process applies to all other doctoral candidates.

Please note, however:

• Applications and enrolment are possible all year round (no deadlines).
  Note: If you enrol within an ongoing semester, you must pay the full semester fees.
• Teaching staff/employees of Paderborn University must also submit their application and enrolment via PAUL. If you already have an account that does not include the "Application" section, this can be requested via bewerbung@upb.de.
• Notification of health insurance to the university is not necessary for a doctoral programme.
• The certificate of enrolment for doctoral studies must be enclosed as part of the enrolment process. The certificate must be signed by the chairperson of the doctoral committee – please refer to the pages of the faculties for current contact persons:
