Writing room for PhD researchers in the library

Writing can often be a lonely and arduous activity during the doctoral phase. Structured writing times and discussions with like-minded people can help to make the writing process easier.

In cooperation with us, the University Library offers a local and inspiring space for PhD students from all faculties.

From the beginning of April until the end of the year, a small group study room is available in the library every week on Fridays from 9 a.m. to around 3 p.m. for individual writing and for exchanging ideas with others. If you like, you will find our writing box of tricks from the Competence Centre for Writing (Kompetenzzentrum Schreiben) with everything that makes writing (more) productive: a timetable to guide you through your writing day, great literature on academic writing, helpful method sheets and much more.

On one Friday of each month (4 April, 9 May, 6 June, 4 July, 5 September, 10 October, 14 November and 5 December), there is also personal support: experts from the Competence Centre for Writing, the library and other service facilities get you in the mood for writing your own research project with short keynote speeches on topics such as how to deal with writer's block and provide advice, support and structure.

The room is located in Building I with the room number I.323 and is reserved for doctoral students every Friday from 4 April 2025.
